The Passage East Car Ferry is in the heart of the 'Sunny South East' and links the villages of Ballyhack in Co Wexford and Passage East in Co Waterford. Suggested tours include Waterford City, deep in history and heritage, where Reginald's Tower, built in 1003, is now a museum. A tour of the world famous 'Waterford Crystal Factory is recommended. Just 10km from Waterford is Ireland's premier seaside resort 'Tramore' with a 5km beach. Swimming can be enjoyed in the sea or in Splashworld. A visit to 'Celtworld' is highly recommmended.
Dunmore East, a modern fishing port and a village that has not lost its old world charm, with thatched cottages the norm, should not be missed.
On the Wexford side of the estuary you will find Hook Head, which is the oldest working lighthouse in Europe. Nearby are many quiet coves and sandy beaches. Kilmore Quay has a maritime museum on the lightship 'Guillemot'. A boat trip to the Saltee Islands can be arranged here. The John F. Kennedy Park covers 500 acres. There are many castles and ruins which can be visited, Slade Castle, Dunrody abbey and Tintern abbey are just a few. The Irish Heritage Park is well worth a visit as is Johnstown Castle garden and agricultural museum.
